UKBRA Benchrest Round 3 – 18th June 2016

This weekend saw round 3 of the UKBRA 100 and 1000 yard leagues at Diggle ranges.

100 yards - Saturday

A much better day on the weather front than last time, the hail and rain had gone and we had some nice sunny spells.

Some new faces today and a bumper entry of 7 in Sporter Class, nice to see some new blood, hope you all enjoyed yourselves and want to come back again.

Darrel Evans set his stall out early on in the Warmup of all targets with a 0.104” almost a screamer…… Darrel, what have we told you about shooting your best group on the warmup….. But it certainly was good enough to get you the small group patch……. Excellent shooting!

Aside from Darrel’s stunning group there were some other good ones today, Messer’s Bottomley, Maunder, Evans and Lenton all shooting at least one group in the one’s each. However the wind was not as simple as the flags might lead you to believe, the warmup match had us all saying “I thought I would have been able to shoot through that wind”, not to be in most cases.

The Sporter Class guys and gals were going for it as well with some very nice groups, “Shooting God” Stuart Benson posting an impressive 0.236” group to win the Small Group Patch, Steve Haywood shot a nice 0.313” group and Jack Mills with 4 groups in the 4’s. There was certainly plenty of action going on in Sporter.

Less than 40 thou separated the top 3 in the Sporter class, you all seemed to be having fun, which is what it is all about.

Stuart Benson (The Shooting God) was back on form, with his bog standard Savage 6BR, with a very creditable 0.4316” agg, well done Stuart.

There were a 5 people shooting aggs in the 2’s today and the top 5 places changed several times during the day, it went right down to the last match to decide the top 3, a great day’s shooting was had by all.

Here are the results……….

1. – Chris Maunder – 0.2246” (average of 5 x 5 shot groups)

2. – Vince Bottomley – 0.2464”
