Sentinel/Odin/Kryptec

Recommended Posts

Finished this one this week.

A very good customer of mine who has a penchant for Krytpec.

This is a Valkyrie Odin action, and is fitted with a 0 moa rail and tactical bolt knob.

The barrel is a Benchmark 1 in 8" finished at 24" and chambered in 6.5 x 47 lap , Invisible cap covering an 18mm x 1 thread.

The trigger is a jewel , and the whole barrelled action is painted in macmillan tan Ceracoat.

It also has a 3rd eye muzzle mounted moderator.

The stock is the now rare Sentinel from mcMillan Bros.

KWM floorplate [ which are lovely ]

The stock's paintwork is my take on Kryptec Highlander. I've used 8 different colours in Duracoat. This in my opinion, is still the best paint for stocks as it will cure chemically and can be speeded up with a very low bake. The paint mixes beautifully and can be touched up if damaged....all things Ceracoat cannot. It goes on thicker and is more flexible. A case of the right media in the right place.

Excuse the photography, it was taken indoors under sodium lights. I took a couple outside when the rain had stopped, and these show the colours better.

The scope is one of the new IOR,s a 4-28 model ? It has a 40mm tube and is sat in a beautiful Spuhr mount specially made for it.

I love these mounts and own three myself. The last word in quality.

Dave,

I must say that rifle has come out rather splendid?

That pattern took a bit of masking me thinks?

Barrel length looks about right, balanced. What profile and all up weight (if known) please?

5 hours masking alone Terry.

That pattern really is a swine to do. You have to sit and study what layer goes where, and it ALWAYS throws up some surprises when de-masked.

Weight wise....its bloody heavy....Third testicle job.

The barrel started life as a 32" palma.

I've never seen the Sentenel stock before, what's the function of the trigger shaped thing behind the trigger guard?

Trick of the light/camera angle, just the cut out in the 'plastic' part of the stock for the trigger guard.

The Sentinal stock is the creation of a gunsmith in the US called Terry Cross, unfortunately getting hold of them is a problem due to both delivery from McM to Terry and Terry sorting out the other parts, assembly etc. As he is a one man band who's main line of work is building LEO and other similar organisations rifles then training their teams after delivery. :(

Here's a link to his web site FYI: http://kmwlrs.com/Homepage

I love them, personally not found a better stock.

Brads Terry
