Best Ranger finder for 600yrd Varminting

Hi guys,

 

Im in the market for an RF for Circa 600 yard varminting. Budget is around £250 new or second hand I'm not bothered. I notice there was a post further down with similar properties but didnt really help much in all honesty.

 

Any input appreciated

The older models a relatively bomb proof, model numbers 900, 1200 usually come up in your price range

I have the old 1200 (not for sale) and can thoroughly recommend it. The beauty of the old one is it has a switch inside so you can have yards or meters.

Thanks for the input guys, iv just bought a Vortex Ranger 1000 from a fellow member. Work's a treat! Nailed a tree out my bedroom window at 1136 yards so i think it will do the job.

I have a Vortex 100 RF. Bought for your budget. Easy to set up. Easy to use. Well made. Case and lanyard. Has an inclinometer option which I wanted. Accurate. 6x lens so good for spotting. Happy days

i found leica picked out small things like crows on a drilled field at say 600 yds with the best precision so far.not had a vortex.

do you shoot many trees at 1136 yards?

 

I'm sure the Vortex will be just fine-esp as it has CZ V's endorsement.

 

Sometimes-well mostly- rangefinders can be quite fussy about reflectance/target size and might not pick up a magpie (despite the white bits!) on the ground beside a tree 1136 yards away...too far for the average bedroom window shot anyhow!!

 

It does give some confidence,joking aside-first 12-42 Night Force I bought I could see crows on a tv aerial on a house way over 1000y away-and see which way they were looking......seemed like an invasion of their privacy! Good spotting and shooting.
