mole-e30
After 12 months they are ready........ 2 x Panda's in 6PPC LV configuration and 1 x Grizzly in 6PPC HV configuration Dual Port Actions, Jewell Triggers, Kreiger Barrels, KLP stocks I must thank the following who have made this all possible, the result is simply stunning in my view. Vince Bottomley - Stock work and assembly Russell Gall - Barrels Gary Costello - Importing the actions and stocks and the scopes.... Mark Lovell - Painting www.custompaintairbrushing.co.uk After 6 years of shooting short range BR we decided that we would have some new rifles built, these are for my Father and I for the forthcoming World Benchrest Championships in the USA. I would like to thank all those above that have helped put these together, they are definitely worth the wait. Cheers Bruce
Laurie
VERY nice Bruce! What scopes are you using? - presumably March since you're thanking Gary Costello, but I see there is a suprisingly large choice of BR models from the company.
mole-e30
Laurie the 2 LV's will have March 50x on them, the HV will have a 45x Leupold on it which we already had. Your old rifle is my HV, which inspired these creations...... I now need to get it painted to match and yes it wears a March 50x. All those that have helped have done a wonderful job and Mark Lovell who did the painting is just amazing, his brief was a union jack on the stock, I couldnt believe it when I saw the end results. Scotch_egg
It would need more than an old towel on the floor if they were my rifles. They are spectacular. Can you enlighten me on "HV"? What length barrels at what distance? I look forward to the bug holes they produce. Please keep us updated.

LV is Light Varmint (max 10 1/2 lbs) including scope HV is Heavy Varmint (max 13 1/2 lbs) including scope All the barrels are 1:13.5 Kreigers with 0.237" bores, the LV's are 20.25" and the HV is 26" These will be used for 100 and 200 yard shooting only. I will post some pics of the groups when available. Cheers Bruce

andybrock
Stunning rifles, you must be well chuffed with them! is there a reason the top two haven't got bolt knobs on?

They have got bolt-knobs - just can't see 'em - hidden by the action in front - too much bling!

mole-e30
I will get some more photos over the weekend when I collect them and put some scopes on. The reamer is Russell's "standard" .262 neck 6PPC reamer. I have previously had 2 barrels chambered from this reamer and they both shoot! 5.98mm at 200m is always good! onehole
Would be nice to see those colours nailed to something "all" homegrown oneday,,,,,,can we really not do this yet?
The Gun Pimp
We almost could - if we really wanted to but, with a serious comp. gun, who will take the risk? Revolution Precision could supply the action, the Scots guys the barrel, Joe West or Staffordshire Synthetics the stock and DCR the trigger. We'd have to go overseas for the scope though. Mole-e30 chose Kelbly Stolle for the action, Krieger for the barrel, Kelbly for the (KLP) stock and Jewel for the trigger - that's pretty standard fare for a competitive 10.5lb LV benchgun. The Stolle actions are all aluminium (except where it matters) and weigh 34oz. The KLP stock is 24oz
jcampbellsmith
Would be nice to see those colours nailed to something "all" homegrown oneday,,,,,,can we really not do this yet? Why hobble yourself? If you want to compete with the best, use the best kit, don't compromise. If the Martians make the best barrels, buy barrels from Mars. Shipping costs are a small price to pay for being a winner. Regards JCS
mole-e30
Would be nice to see those colours nailed to something "all" homegrown oneday,,,,,,can we really not do this yet? Vince is spot on, I would love to have a competitive all UK gun, however....... Weight and availability is the issue here, I am not aware of any UK action that would sensibly allow enough weight spare for the stock and barrel. Also it's about things that you know that work..... I know the combination of Panda action, Kelbly stock, Jewel trigger and Kreiger barrels work. With waiting times being up to 12 months, if it doesnt work because you choose to "experiment" that can be an issue, without thinking about cost, variations etc etc. If any of the 2 UK barrel companies want to let Vince or I have a barrel to chamber and test we will happily do it and give an honest opinion. As to stocks, yes, lets get some made that are straight, true, light enough and sensibly priced, it would be ideal. DCR triggers, I would love to try one and I have a project that I could use one on....... any offers Cheers Bruce

Brillo
Sorry to highjack your thread Bruce, but I'm sure I read a post from you saying that Brian Fox has some Stolle actions available. Am I imagining this and just wishful thinking? Cheers Mark
