mole-e30
UKBRA Benchrest Round 3 – 20th and 21st June 2015 This weekend saw round 3 of the UKBRA 100 and 1000 yard leagues at Diggle ranges. 100 yards - Saturday Saturday morning greeted us all with thick fog and we did wonder if we would even be able to start the competition at one point. However the fog lifted a little and we got going. The wind was reasonably light compared to the previous round, but it was proving tricky at times. There were some good groups, but the best were from Vince Bottomley in HV with 0.130” and Stuart Benson in Sporter with 0.200” well done to you both. There were a good number of people shooting aggs in the 2’s today and the top 5 places changed several times during the day, a great day’s shooting was had by all. Here are the results………. Heavy Varmint 1. – Darrel Evans – 0.2246” (average of 5 x 5 shot groups) 2. – Martin Miles – 0.2450” 3. – Vince Bottomley – 0.2478” Small Group – Vince Bottomley – 0.130” Sporter 1. – Stuart Benson – 0.4404” (average of 5 x 5 shot groups) 2. – Jack Mills – 0.6772” 3. – David Harvey – 0.9512” Small Group – Stuart Benson – 0.200” Full results can be seen by clicking the link below https://www.dropbox.com/s/2tvqmkscwv1vhn5/UKBRA%20100BR%2020th%20June%202015.pdf?dl=0 1000 yards – Sunday Sunday dawned and it was a different story weather wise…… Rain and wind. Today we were going to see some big groups and some small ones too. Just about everyone got hit with a nasty wind shift, lull or gust at some point and the weather didn’t get any better all day for any of the classes. In heavy gun we seem to have captured an F Class shooter John Campbell, so great to see a new face in the ranks, please come back again, but remember winning on your first outing just isn’t allowed again! Small group in light gun went to a certain Vince Bottomley with a lovely 6” group, great considering the foul weather and new boy John Campbell shot an almost record 7.9” 10 shot group in Heavy Gun. Anyway, without further ado, here are the results Light Gun 1. – Mal Roberts – 8.894” (average of 4 x 5 shot groups) 2. – Ian Dixon – 10.336” 3. – Phil Sammons – 11.078” Small Group – Vince Bottomley – 6.105” Heavy Gun 1. – John Campbell – 14.488” (average of 2 x 10 shot groups) 2. – Bruce Lenton – 15.315” 3. – Tony Lenton – 16.859” Small Group – John Campbell – 7.913” Factory Sporter 1. – David Leslie – 13.533” (average of 4 x 5 shot groups) 2. – Nick Parkin – 14.390” 3. – Toni Young – 18.838” Small Group – Nick Parkin – 9.488” Full results can be seen by clicking the link below. https://www.dropbox.com/s/70pqko0q64wdvuv/UKBRA%201000BR%2021st%20June%202015.pdf?dl=0 A group of UKBRA members are going to the Gelston Range near Castle Douglas in Dumfries and Galloway on Sunday 5th July for their 1000 yard benchrest shoot, if you are interested in coming, get in touch with either myself of Vince Bottomley. Our next outing at Diggle is the weekend of 18th and 19th July, so please as always come along and have fun, we may even get some sun, it is supposed to be summer after all. Noodler
Cheers Darrel. The wind was confusing and for the middle of summer it was pretty cold. Usual Diggle weather (gloves and balaclava lol) Although Vince was sporting his own brand of designer clothing under the Gun Pimp logo.
