fivehole Posted June 13, 2015 Report Share Posted June 13, 2015 Hi all, One of my shooting mates has a sako 75 (243) varmint stainless laminate its as new( and when I say that mean it hasn't got a mark on it ) having shot less than 20 rounds from new its been threaded by norman Clarke and has a pes moderator . banus02 Posted August 12, 2015 Report Share Posted August 12, 2015 good evening ,if you do buy it or before you buy it make sure the moderator comes off,i was offered a sako 22/250 that is ten years old and the chap,a game keeper wants £200 for it ,the moderator does not move... the crap inside and inside the barrel had to be seen to be beleaved its going to need rebarrelling. dorg Posted August 13, 2015 Report Share Posted August 13, 2015 I think you you guys are being a bit tight, I buy an awful lot of Sako 75s, this is the most popular of them for fox shooters, and with a PES in mint condition which new would have been one of the most exspensive moderators at the time. I think the rifle in the condition as described is worth £750 all day long, the mod £120 and if it has a set of stainless rings another £75. I would offer him £850 all in and see where it goes. Wood, blued hunters are worth considerably less maybe up to a third less. Dealers will always give small amounts for secondhand rifle for the usual reasons. Just think what a stainless action on its own makes when they come up for sale. Any good condition 75 for £375 is a bargain. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Stainless and synthetic, with harris copy bipod, atec mod, optiloc rings and 8x56 swaro scope - went for £1200 after about 3 wks on guntrader. It was used but not abused and I had it 2nd hand. I've no doubt the dealer rates are around £600, but if you want to get it's "value" you don't sell to a friend at "mates rates" or a dealer. If you and the guy selling can find a number between what he wants and what you're willing to give, neither of you'll be happy with it but it'll be about the right number! FYI- I've kept the sako 75 in 308 and will re-barrel and restock it till I can't shoot anymore, then it's going to my son if he's into shooting. Some models and particularly chamberings may have a premium for some buyers,as fewer were produced,and some are no longer available,and/or are alternatives are not commonplace. How many 22PPC contrasted with 243 have you sen lately?
