1 in 10,right twist-from one of the reviews -just google it.Marmite-like the Rem 600 in mid 60's. The Ruger would be improved by a 5 shot mag option, and better accuracy. The Rem had excellent accuracy,no box mag-mine took a scout scope on Burris base.LIke Gaz,I liked the concept a lot,as a carry rifle.

I have a lefty one, pretty certain it is a 1in 10 twist, got it to shoot 3/4 moa with 168smks, love mine to bits

Glad to hear you love it . cant wait to get it on the range . but not expecting super accuracy but I don't care !

One of our club members has one and has been getting surprising results out to 600yds with it. I suspect the Scout may be considerably improved by a decent bedding job and properly free-floating the barrel.

Yes,thanks 1in9: I meant to say ,should be supplied with a 5 shot,or both-the issue is that with 5+ fast shots, there tends to be upward POI change-though perhaps that is of little concern if there is some (hard to imagine) need for 10 fast shots!

Whatever happened to the Parker Hale Scout?

And without a Scout LER scope,it's not really a (Cooper) Scout,just a short carbine-nothing wrong with that compromise,though,if accepted as such.(short barrel,10 fast shot 308s get a bit...err...barky,and even bitey) :-)

I had one and sold it/. The action was quite sloppy when it was open, and this made closing the bolt tricky at times as it got stuck. See the Nutnfancy youtube review for more on that one. Quite jumpy due to short barrel, and light rifle but a moderator sorted that out.

My best five-shot group off a bipod with a scout scope on it was 0.75" at 100m, with not a massive amount of load development. That was with 168r Privi heads. I found it did prefer the heavier heads.

AI magazines, but the Ruger poly magazines could be top-loaded while the magazine was in the rifle, which was a nice option. Bloody expensive magazines though.

I really like the option to use the open sights. A pity that more rifles don't have these on as standard. I hardly used them, but I just liked having them as an option!

Glad you see the advantages of high mag,Mike. Of course wobble is always there, but it's visually magnified, takes a little getting used to.But add in Al's point-the low mag guys remain unaware of the imprecision of their (apparently) steady shots, with their reticules covering more of the target than your 3 shot groups do,sometimes quite a bit more....not a recipe for precision. Of course on warm days you will get mirage, but just wind down-25x is usually useable.

Moa will just about do for 250 yard deer, but it gets a bit marginal if as much again is added by imprecise aiming/wobble etc.-good rest works wonders.

Wind was mentioned-here's the dope on that:

308w 168 g @ 2650;drop/ drift,200 zero 200y 0/3.3 400y 26/13.5 inches

commercial ammo,so comparisons easy.

It is difficult to guage wind within 2 mph,so the wind read error could easily be over 1/2 inch at 200y-not to say you can just take that off group size of course, but it's not negligible when we talk sub moa potential.

Of course, sometimes the wind error blows them into the group....! but not 5x5 times in a row.

Enjoy.
