CZ Varminter
What do people think? Wasn't that impressed with groups even for factory. Apart from last load obviously. https://youtu.be/jlA_i-KwYBY CZV
DW58
Firstly I will admit my bias, I've been a Sauer user since 1988. This is a top quality rifle, and Sauer accuracy is among the best if not the best of factory rifles. The first group (Norma Jaktmatch) was pretty good for factory ammo - I'm afraid to say that the other three brands (Remington, S&B and Hornady) are hardly what I'd call quality ammo. I'm surprised to see that no RWS, Lapua or Sako ammunition was used - had they been resultswould have been significantly different. With handloads, this rifle would produce 0.5 MOA groups or better, my .308 Sauer will shoot 0.25 MOA with the right person pulling the trigger, although not me so often these days as a result of anno domini, arthritic fingers and Fibromyalgia. Whilst a good video, I don't think it does the Sauer 404 justice in terms of accuracy. Would I buy a Sauer 404 - Hell Yes!
CRD
Not sure about the safety catch. Seems pretty hard to push forward/up. I don't think Sauer are the best for accuracy straight out of the box in fact fairly average as the video shows. Don't think I would want one. Do you have any substantive experience to back that up or is it merely based upon the video? The reason I ask is that my experience of a number of Sauer 200s and 202s is the opposite. Various wood/synthetic.I did say straight out of the box!

DW58
Well I'm surprised, my experience of the ones I've worked with have been good using decent ammunition. RWS factory ammo for example has always shot well for me, and handloads superbly - that's without any mods whatsoever, but a few tweaks always help. I'd have a 404 in the blink of an eye if they weren't so damned expensive.
Ronin
Looks a decent system - especially with the replaceable bolt head and adjustments to the trigger as standard. Not sure about the Blaser esque de cocker... If I had to own a factory sported, it would be a 202 / 404 , but id have to be certain before purchase it didn't suffer from the wandering for end many sauers suffer from. I thought accuracy with factor was acceptable and typical of what many factory rifles perform with different brands. Just goes to back up the fact that to get the best from any rifle, you need to load develop and fine tune.

Also the barrel keyway is a good idea as apposed to removing the 202 item. Judging by the video, half a turn of a screw releases the forend so I'm sure that won't stop it waggling. The wide forend on the target/wolverine is a much better item but looks a bit silly with a sporter profile. I love the flexibility of the 202 but are the changes on the 404 good enough to make me want to rush out and get one, I don't thing so.
ChrisF
Like the swapable bolt heads , not so much the blaser cocking mod , also would have liked a different scope mounting solution , maybe pitcanny sized mount points , then at a pinch or IF you liked , could just use pitcanny rings .
