Dw-Nosler did persuade SAAMI to legitimise the 280rem Ackley Imp-could that be it? Seems unlikely Nosler would have done this to compete with a completely new Nosler proprietary 280.......?

The Nosler 260-if indeed it does deliver 130@ 3350,is a step up from such as 6.5 Rem Mag,and the less obscure 264 Win Mag-though even this latter never caught on in UK-just nothing for it to shoot, that wasn't done equally/better by other cartridges-and both were introduced in a time when 6.5 was not flavour of the year, though the 264 had some deserved popularity as a long range mountain sheep/similar rifle in the US.

Be interesting to see how many actually buy the 260 Nosler, and what they shoot with their limited life barrel in the UK; it offers quite a bit of performance ,of course-but so does the very good 7 Rem Mag.Hill stalking apart, maybe these are all answers to a problem the UK does not have, big time?

But that is hardly new,either..... :-)

The innovative rifle builder David Lloyd was very keen on the .264 Win Mag building a fair number of stalking rifles in this calibre over the years.Wiki = David Lloyd

Agreed,I didn't mention him because the number of such rifles (scope mounts with a rifle added on!) in 264 was really very small, and they were expensive-the few I saw tended to be in Holland and Holland's; absolutely nothing wrong with LLoyd rifles, just a speciality /luxury item....more exclusive than Weatherby's. There would have been a lot more 6.5 M/S estate rifles in their heyday, hardly economy options either!

That is not to say the Nosler might not sell some, but rationally,it's not really something many will need....though I wanted a 6.5RM-never saw a single one (thankfully,in hindsight-the M/S was consolation enough.)

I owned (and loved) a 6.5x54mm Mannlicher-Schönauer (a lovely take-down with 4x36 scope in claw-mounts). I think most of us have rifles/guns we wish we'd never sold - the M-S is one of mine along with a Merkel O/u shotgun.

Looks like a 6.5-06AI.

Thats gonna eat barrels, but looks a great cartridge.

my 6.5 06 has shot inexcess of 1100 shots, and a good few 1000yd snaps details and its still tack driving, long may it continue, I did consider the ai but as been said about ai the gain is not worth it
