Roe
After autumns horrible start (scope was for some reason off, discovered first shot), this trip had a slightly better start. I have since then changed my mount to a picatinny/ ring combo where everything can be checked with the standard 4mm Blaser key. The rifle also (or rather barrel with scope mounted) rides in a Pelicase with fitted foam. The hope is minimum chance of disturbance during transport and maximum chance of discovering (checking screws) before shooting. I am contemplating adding some lacquer or reference marks on screwheads/ scope body that should crack/ make it visible if anything moves (not sure if this idea will actually work). Very happy to find that I managed the whole trip without getting water on the lenses despite a fair amount of wind/ rain. I have switched from Butler Creek to Tenebraex lens covers and there seems to be a palpable difference in quality.

Roe
Your shooting companion looked a little disappointed as having been left in the dog-crate. Yes. He is approaching retirement now I think, so the owner spends a lot of his time training his replacement. Makes him extra happy being out with me, and probably a bit miffed at me leaving on foot without him. Thought I'd spare him the wet and cold for this evening, I don't think his kennel is that warm... jcampbellsmith
THLR. Thanks, I thought the ground looked familiar. All I saw were bucks the day I was there in March many years ago. Regards JCS
