I think you will need a free one for one variation- ask your FLO-but it should be straightforward.Be polite,the whole issue of calibre/and cartridge names is quite inconsistent,but FLOs are much better informed these days,and these two have very similar applications/specs.

Sometimes the wording can be more 'flexible'-eg permission for 'a 6mm rifle' rifle' might well allow a 6mm Rem,or a 6BR. That little 'a' making all the difference-compared to one '6BR'rifle' which means what it says(again,easily varied,usually.) 308/7.62 and 223/5.556 are well established -'either ors' really -the same gat,of course-but markings can vary)

You dont state where your located, but here in Kent , Firearms will give you a vari both metric and imperial , ive such a option and it states 6.5/260 Rifle

no requirement to specify case length etc.

makes sense really :)
