Akeld
Different poison, Fenn MK4's, Few terriers and a smoker, or as you've already suggested, air rifle (and a tub of peanut butter), you can also make multi catch traps from barrels etc where they walk along a section and it drops or rotates and thay fall into the container, quite a few ideas on google/youtube
David Hancock
Catfood. Smear it onto a plank so they cannot run away with chunks, located at 2 / 3 different places where you are zeroed in for headshots and cleanly dispatch them with the air rifle. Litter picker to pick them up and get rid of them.

eldon
Used to shoot on a landfill site. .22 rimfire and they were living in ditches filled with tyres... fantastic fun and had many a 50 shot nights where I'd taken a box and thought I had loads. It all depends on where the rats are placed but in the right setting are excellent entertainment.

gaz6br
sounds like you've done it before Gaz! Once or twice Best bit I ever had was a old silage clamp where the farmer used to tip all the old potatoes, corn, maize ect I'd never seen so many rats. Smoker and 6 or 8 terriers on the go was great fun. We could also safely shoot them with a 22lr there game covers will soon need a clean out as well Gaz
dennisgrm
Near all rat poisons are accumulative. So this means the poison level has to build up in their system before it becomes fatal. If they are eating it all you don't have enough poison in the bait station or enough bait stations in the area. For every bait station that is eaten clean double the poison volume until some remains. This ensures each feeding rat get the required amount of poison digested. You will soon see the results. Mind you a bit of ratting sport takes a bit of beating at times :-)

I've got a batch of peanut butter with other bits and bobs in, and I've baited once so far. How many times do you think I should pre bait the 2 spots i've chosen to get them as confident as possible before starting the culling? Thanks J. Eggy
Look for the runs the rats use , then lay your bait in one the rats will stop for a feed then you take the shot on a stationary rat.. simples

Thanks.
stillair1
Sometimes they just don't like peanut butter or nutella. I have a fussy one in the chicken run at the mo.

srvet
Use loads of poison, they need to eat a fair bit for it to work. Will be far more effective than other methods
