Akeld
I've just bought ( but yet the recieve) a Barenar 22x70 draw telescope which looks like an Optolyth, the only reference I can find is from an ISMOR paper dated 1994, and that only infers it was used between the scout telescope and the M49 scope. If anyone can shed further light on it I'd appreciate it. Thanks
Strangely Brown
I saw one for the first time a couple of weeks ago, I suspect it's actually an Optolyth. In 40 years of retailing optics this is the first one I have ever seen, interestingly the one I saw came from a source at Warminster! Optical manufacturer's like to have a second name on items destined for the military. Zeiss use the Hensoldt name on some of their kit, and Swarovski have the Khales name to fall back on to if they so wished.
Akeld
Thanks for the reply it was sold as Barenar (Optolyth), and as you say they seem identical, all I've dug up so far is the paper I've mentioned which tells very little
