Bead blasting

Recommended Posts

Just after a heads up for anyone offering this service fairly local to me as I have a barrel that could do with been bead blasted just to dull the shine from the stainless steal.

With it been a firearm does it have to be someone with an RFD or can I ring up and take it to the bloke down the road, obviously I'll remove the stock, protect the crown, tape over action to prevent particles entering anywhere they shouldn't etc.

Thanks,

Simon

Ideally anyone working on the firearm should be an RFD, but if you are there with it all the time it may not matter.

I would be prefer for the barrel to be removed from the action but it is not always as easy as that and you will need to make sure there is not any sand/grit in the action before you use it again, and the muzzle needs protectind as you mentioned.

As an alternative you could always get it painted with one of the Cerokoat, Durakoat or similar products.

Personally I wouldn't take it to a bloke down the road, 1 I'm not sure about the legality of it and 2 I'd rather take my prized rifle to someone that knows what they are doing with firearms! Imagine if your mate wrecked it? For the sakes of a few quid it ain't worth it!

I sure there must be a good gunsmith in your area that could do the work for you?
