I used a Stolle 22ppc for years as my foxing rifle, fantastic round, but then I had it re barrelled to 6mm ppc which I currently use as my NV rifle. I only use it out to around 200 yards at night but out to 300 yds you won't find a more accurate cartridge, get one and you won't be disappointed!

I have used a 6PPC for almost 20 years now. Sweet shooting rifle, drops deer with ease given good placement. My novice daughter can shoot .3s with it off a bench after 800 rounds down the tube.

Been using a 22 ppc for the last 7 years. Recently re barreled it to shoot heavier rounds.. Took a bit of patience to get it on song but working really well at the moment ! And boy does it have some clout now! Very rarely get my 243 out these days...

For most uses,6PPC is pretty close.

SAAMI ccommercial loadings:best,not typical:

6PPC ((90 g) up to 1800 ftlb; but 75 g is 1600 ftlb

243 85 2080

6BR 85 2115 105g 2210

For all ,lighter bullets less energy, and if stabilised, heavier more

6PPC is a little easier on recoil/shootability;generally in more accurate rifles,as is 6BR

6PPC has less longer range potential, but we are outside live quarry ranges anyhow by then.

In my 6ppc I use Lapua brass, 29.5gn N133 with Federal 205m primers which pushes a 65gn V-Max along at 3300fps which is a great foxing / vermin round out to around 300yds. If you want to shoot further than that then this is where the 6mm br takes over.

I can just about squeeze enough energy out of mine using the correct bullet to make it deer legal, but to be honest I think there are more suitable rounds out there for deer.

Just my tuppence worth and hope you dont mind chaps!!!

Semi custom Sako 75 in 6PPC - 270 Lapua neck - 1 in 12 twist Krieger barrel running 85 grain BTSPs @3100fps and 220 Russian brass...

157yd heart shot Fallow buck ( bullet mushroomed and exited and dropped said animal on the spot as with other Fallow / Roe )

And some more..

DSCF1560.jpg

Keep the ranges sensable ( 200yds ) and its a cracking performer!!! ;):D

One of my all time favourite calibers which i was fortunate to cut my teeth onin the deer stalking world hunting Fallow and Roe!!

Ray.

That load produces 3385fps using 68gr match bullets in my rifle. Its my load of choice either the 68gr Barts or 65 gr VMax which should be a shade faster. Its my load of choice with either 205M or BR4 primers.
