varmintexpress Posted September 14, 2014 Report Share Posted September 14, 2014 I was doing some load development today with some soft nose sierra and some v max. the v max expand a lot more than the solf nose bullets at 100 yards. As Scotch-egg says,the soft point are for somewhat larger critters,with a more controlled expansion/penetration design. UK crow is small varmint ; UK fox is clearly bigger than 'prairie dog',but short of coyote construction,making the heavier vmax bullets more appropriate than the very lightest,probably. So give bullet choice some consideration, weight and construction;and quarry. Be informed by those with extensive experience,like Gaz.
