trigger lightening on a shotgun

I recently bought a little HW Cooey model 84 .410 single barrel hammer gun for my son to use as an introduction to rough shooting .

Size wise it fits him ok and he can handle it safely but the trigger pull is very heavy and he is struggling to get a shot off cleanly and is pulling the shot .

 

Is it worth it / much work / even possible to get the trigger adjusted or is it ninja finger strengthening exercises?

 

Any advice welcome
