I am going to put a new stock on my 6.4x47 Rem 700 and would like some ideas. I have McMillan stocks on a few rifles, but like the pistol grip set up on some of the alloy systems available and they will also give me the ability to use a magazine. I have looked at the MDT21, Third Eye and KMW, but is there much in performance or is it just a design prefernence? Do any negate the requirement of bedding as this would add to the cost.

Most chassis systems are supposed to be be 'bolt straight in', but every gunsmith that I have spoken to says that they will benefit from bedding.

I like the AICS on my Remington. These are easy to get hold of but they are heavy. But that may be an advantage for target work. If you want something lighter, the MDT LSS certainly looks good.

Mostly its down to what you like the look of and what fits (both you and your budget). The nice thing about chassis systems is you can bolt them on and off you go - no need to mess about with bedding. If you fancy a change you can move it on and get something else. You can bed if you like but in my experience there's really no need and it will certainly reduce resale value if you want to sell in the future.
