For those who missed the topic http://ukvarminting.com/forums/topic/25166-a-drop-in-varmint-posts/

Varminting spurned the desire for accuracy. You have to understand there only so many ways to write about the same thing. Take a copy of The Shooting Times from 10 years ago and you are sure to find the same aritcle fluffed up a little repeated since date of print.

The UKV way, that is what matters. We discuss Equipment, loads, data and we strive to achieve perfection.

Scotch_egg

Im not trying to start a argument here but if you read some of my varminting posts...theres not one the same as my next one....I aways try to put up a good write up and a few acceptable pics.

It seems that your saying that UKV has moved away from its roots of varminting?

Smell the coffee:

A clear preference on UKV for Clever / Different / Technical as opposed to 'snuff' reports and pics that sit better on less technical forums.

UKV is not a public service and it runs on the sitting room basis that was established by Len Backus when he created LRH.

Len saw LRH as his sitting room. People were only invited in, and allowed to remain, if they behaved as they would if invited into his sitting room.

Anyone being rude or boorish was no longer invited to remain in the sitting room.

Now, in terms of the UKV sitting room, those of us who run UKV have no interest in seeing repetitive pictures of shot up dead stuff.

(Personally, I don't even understand why people would even want to photograph shot up dead stuff; let alone post it on the internet - and I can't even begin to understand why people would want to look at pictures of shot up dead stuff from other people.)

UKV has run that way for at least the last 4 years. In that time it has become the UK's pre-eminent and 'go to' site for precision rifle enthusiasts and I'm pretty stunned that UKV's widely recognised broad church of precision rifle expertise that spans precision target, precision tactical and precision field shooting has to be explained to anyone:

UKV is a celebration of precison riflery.

'Varminting' is but one subset of the span of precision rifle activity considered here at the expert level; and if you want to ignore that broad span and fixate on the 'varminting' subset of precision riflery for a moment (for no better reason than being unable to think past a word in a url bought 7 years ago); here again is the sitting room concept -as applied to 'varminting'- to grasp and understand: UKV welcomes Clever / Different / Technical posts on varminting as opposed to 'snuff' reports and pics that sit better on less technical forums.

The only trouble we have here as moderators seems to come from those unable to grasp that.

There's nothing more to be said on the matter.

So yes, thread locked.

:)
