andybrock Posted July 22, 2014 Report Share Posted July 22, 2014 I got in this morning after my longest ever foxing session, started at 7pm last night as the keeper said he'd seen a fox cub after poults early in the evening at it finished at 6:30 this morning at another pen as the poults had been getting hammered as they were coming off the roost. Neither fox turned up as they should but got a big cub at 10pm and a very old, almost toothless dog at 3:30am he was heading for the pen which had been getting hammered in the early morning so hopefully I've got the culprits. gaz6br Posted July 22, 2014 Report Share Posted July 22, 2014 Lol yes sorry Andy very good effort but as you may no I love my early mornings and evening sit outs at this time of year so most weekends Me and a shooting buddy do a 7pm ish start and return home bout 9am ish next morning you just can't get the lamping or nv hours in this time of year On my way home just and the harvest as started so I've told the mrs I'm not about much for the next 4 weeks or so lol a lot of stubble to cover before they plough it up and they don't hang about. See how we do tonight can't wait Happy hunting Gaz I've been back to the same place night, day and morning day after day for a fox, for a good week or so before now. As of late I'm up at 4am to milk so 3am is the latest/earliest I'll stop out, need at least an hours shut eye before work. Depending on how tired I am I usually sleep 2-4 hrs in the space of the night. I have PIR sensors near my bait and a trailcam so I can check if anything came while I was asleep and didn't trigger the alarm. gaz6br Posted July 25, 2014 Report Share Posted July 25, 2014 You can't beat this time of year there just starting the harvest 4 nights sitting out this week on stubble from 7pm till 11pm ish and 7 foxes down 2 vixens 1 dog and 4 cubs on 3 different patches. rsc1960 Posted July 26, 2014 Report Share Posted July 26, 2014 Hi Andy well done. i got out yesterday for the first time with the 6mmbr in its new format and load left home at 7.15 am and got back this morning at 0309 am not bad i had 186 pigs with wings, then lunch, then went long range corvid shooting and we got 25 between us, then we laid up for the charlies on the barley fields that have just come off, a mate richard had 5 with his 6.5/284 and i seen 3 but only got the pull on one, so lights out about 2145 and back in the l200 for a spot of lamping around the pens, we started that after a nice chicken fried rice and chips from the local takeaway delivered to the farm , and when we left for home we have a total of 11,7 cubs both a mix of dog and vixens from this year and the rest where 4 vixens/mothers from this year, not one large old dog was had but who cares i can start work tomorrow knowing i had a great day out on the farm with the 2 keepers RSC Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
