The Gun Pimp
Our Fly Shoot is coming up in a couple of weeks and usually attracts a few UKV'rs. The date is Sunday 27th July - start about 9.30am. Enter on the day (£5.00 plus £15.00 range fee for non-members). The comp. involves shooting for group and score at 500 yds with plenty of sighters, so an ideal opportunity to demonstrate those quarter MOA rifles we read about on UKV! If you dare............. Laurie
This really is a highlight of the precision shooting season - not to be missed! I don't know what exactly, but the 'something' about hitting a 'fly' 500 yards away and getting a coveted woven patch is addictive. (i've done it once in maybe 10 tries.) baldie
I love the fly shoot. Hit it 3 times one year. Its great fun and as Vince says.... Its a chance for all those 1/4 minute guns to be shown off....you know....the ones that will do it all day...... Or in other words......time to walk the walk..... Its also the best Craic of the year and the pi55taking is merciless. We are shooting CSR the day before and stopping over, so if anyone fancies camping and coming for beer and curry the saturday night,....shout up. pengo
Silly question, but is this only shot from prone, or is it off a bench? Just that I wouldn't mind a go, but dodgy back means, no prone!!! Here's hoping.....

The Gun Pimp
Grouse, You will shot three, 5-shot groups with unlimited sighters, so bring about 20-25 rounds.

pengo
Does that mean you're a benchrest shooter pengo? It does indeed and after my visit to the 1,000 yard comp at Diggle in June, I have now invested in a Savage Model 12 Benchrest in 6.5x284 and I'm just waiting for my ticket to come back, so I can come up to be shown how it should be done... I was going to try the fly shoot with my .223, but hey ho, not to worry, there'll be other bench comps I'm sure. I look forward to seeing you all again soon. Cheers. andybrock
Yes, thanks to everyone who made it happen today and congratulations to all the winners, there was some fantastic shooting ??. It was my first time shooting at Diggle, I didn't get a fly patch but still had a thoroughly enjoyable day and like Arnie say " I'll be back" Cheers Andy
Laurie
Well, yet another annual Great Diggle Fly Shoot has come and gone ..... and I've still only got the sole Fly Patch I won on my first ever attempt donkey years back. (Beginner's luck that was!) A great day's shooting, and I love it. Well done The Gun Pimp Vince (organiser, Butts Officer and RCO while still managing to compete) and Jeanette (RCO, competitor and stats) for a great event, and congrats to the winners and dozen or so shooters (out of 58 [?] entrants) who earned the coveted 'Fly' in VERY tricky wind conditions. Wind (and sometimes bad mirage) aside, the weather gods smiled on Diggle as they very occasionally do too, so a dry, just nicely warm day in Northern England at its best weather condition wise and in great scenery. (What more can you ask for apart from Diggle being restored to its rightful home under the White Rose flag where it resided for centuries before one Ted Heath MP and PM b******d the counties up?) As always, it was good to meet UKV members on the range, especially impressed by 'Oaken' who drove 4 hours plus each way from Salisbury to compete.
