The Gun Pimp
As it says really. Just after your thoughts and findings of this caliber. I've had 6mm and 22. It is a fantastic little round - in fact, it has just set a new 10-shot 1000yd record in the USA - 2.6 inches i think. But, that doesn't make it a 1000 yard F Class round. Clearly, it is inherently accurate - as all 6BR based rounds appear to be and it does give that bit extra 'push' than the standard round. Downsides? Case-forming - especially with the 22. Redshift
Dasher shooter here, I agree with Vince, fire forming can be a bit of a pain in the bum, but that goes with any wildcat, I false shoulder mine, stick about 30g of powder in them, an a-max -10thou and shoot them, you tend to get about .75 min of spread but still not bad. As to a good f-class round, again I totally agree with Vince, it's not that it can't make the long distance because it can, I've shot mine to 1100 yds no problem, it's the wind drift. The best score I've ever made at 1k is a 68/75 on a f-class face, but there again I'm not a great shot, I lost all the points out of the side ( always do!!!!) When the wind starts to gust you will be cranking the windage knob like a good un, as a general rule with a decent bullet the drift is about 11/2 mins inside a tr rifle. Hope this helps Redshift

The Gun Pimp
Might re-barrel mine in 22 Dasher for the 600 yd BR season - I've just about forgotten what a pain the case-forming is.
Redshift
Thanks Red its one and only use will be a 600 yard heavy bench rest gun (20-25lbs)so will be right in its comforts zone I've always fancied one myself, I have a barrelled action in the gun safe at the moment ( Barnard S action, bartlein barrel, kelbly trigger). The only thing stopping me is the thought of those long drives up to diggle, if the nra took notice of people and built some benches at 600/1000 etc I'd be in. Good luck if you decide to go ahead with the project. Redshift

Brad Y
Another dasher shooter here. I use it anytime the conditions permit. No matter what the distance. The sheer grouping ability is what makes it a fantastic caliber. In FO its only downfall is the fact that those little 105's get blown about easier than most other rounds. But Im happy to shoot it at all ranges as long as its fairly calm or at least what wind/mirage is stable enough to read. It does cop a bit of a hammering in a front fishtail. For the shorter 300-500yds that we shoot, its dynamite and has humbled many 6.5mm, 7mm and 30 cals. Though they often get their own back at 900 and 1000yds when its rough. Im running 31.7gr H4895 with BR4 primers in lapua cases and a 105 hybrid jumped 50 thousandths. The barrel is a krieger 236 4 groove finished at 30 inches. Velocity is 3015fps with an ES on 10 shots of 7fps. Will group in the 0.1's at 100yds in the right conditions and if I do my bit. Currently screwed out and waiting for the next 1000yd BR event.
