Riverkeeper
I have heard on good authority that reloader 17 produces some pretty tasty velocities in the 204 ruger however I can't find any data on it anywhere - every thing I read suggests RL17 has a simalar burn rate to 4350 which I believe is a fairly slow powder ? I'm looking to load 32g z-max and throw them down a 22 inch 1 in 12 Pac-nor barrel - can any one help ???

gunner
Iv spoken to a few people on the 20s and H4198 and rel10 were mentioned allot , i went on quickload 2nites ago and out of 5 powders available to me H4895 gave best velocity , however im still waiting on the build so actually havnt ever shot 20s yet ! Thats my findings so far . All the best with it tho- Tim..
frank666
I would say R17 is too slow..........R10x is good as is Viht N130 and N133
henryo
Consider benchmark as well for the 32gr. It looks like reloader 17 would be ideal if you were pushing the 55gr out of a suitably throated rifle, but not for standard weight bullets
griffshrek
I use X10 in my .204 with the 32gr bullets great accuracy giving a not to shabby 3915 fps , I did touch the magic 4000 fps on load development but accuracy fell off a bit so stayed at the 3915 fps
247sniper
Reloader 10 works and so does Reloader 15. Â My go to powder is Reloader 10. Â Don't get to hung up with OTT velocities, in the real world an extra 100-200ftps make no notifiable difference.
nomis
I have used Vit133 and H4895 with good results.

Riverkeeper
Thanks guys - seems like it was Chinese whispers at work again . I have found that a compressed load of Varget is giving me a 1/2 moa string at 100 yds which is good enough for me , I don't own a chrony but data suggests this should be 3800+ through the 22 in barrel . I don't think Toby will notice the difference
Riverkeeper
Think I will save the RL17 for the 6mm ackley . That looks like it could be fun
