Seen the trailer can you imagine the size of bait blocks to put out for them.

Not sure inch alkathene and a smokin chainsaw is up to the job ever the terriers might think twice.

Was shooting them from airboats on the Trinnity river near Galvaston 25 years ago.

We used to shoot around 300 on a good evening and then Larry the local river hillbilly/guide skinned them out for the fur.

Considering how they breed they must be overrun with the things by now.

To put" terriers" and "think" in the same sentence is so wrong unless there is a "don't" in there someplace :D

the little rat pack we have go into auto pilot when out on the long tails.its a job digging out when 7-8 sets of jaws are chomping on anything near to them including the shovel and smoker .no hands go anywhere near when they are in the zone

great fun in winter but no good in summer when all the weeds/ nettles etc are up.

Plus one I love it, found mine eating hedge hogs in the kennel before now, bloody things will kill oat if it moves..

I did say might. Then again should've said wouldn't. Just stuff some lead in the end of the alkathene and call round a few more mates for the pack.

Some of the best fun to be had controlling vermin.

Yes, watching it now.

I'd like to shoot them as 'driven game' with my 10 shot benelli - poor mans boar shooting....

but probably a hell of more fun !

My last terrier used to dig under the summerhouse and kill hedgepigs by a firm bite through the spines, seen Badgers baulk at doing that. I used to rag him a bit for that as they do a great job on the slugs etc. However Terriers just don't react to admonishment like a Lab will. Took an age to clean him up and the bleeding to stop

I used to take my mates terrier ratting (I worked on his Dads poultry farm) the dog had a hole in his heart. Vet said not to let him get excited (he'd never had a terrier) and if lucky he might make 18 months old. Nobody told the dog he was over 10 years old when he finally gave up. He was a brilliant little dog and made that part of the job so much fun I'd of paid them.

Diagnosing heart murmur with stethoscope I suppose ? Common and highly inaccurate. Need scanning and grading by a specialist especially to say things like might make 18mnths is still a little cavalier.

I don't know what tests etc were done but he did show symptoms such as coughing and shortness of breath. Not being a vet and it being 17 or so years ago details escape me but I took him in a few times and he went a lot more to the vets. poor sod used to shake when you drove towards Settle. I do clearly remember my mates mum coming back telling us what the vet said. Then bringing him over ratting as he was more stressed knowing we were out the bosses peg dog was a hell of a rating dog working with the terrier was great to watch (unless you're the rat).

my last terrier got Parvo at about 4 yrs, vet said probably wouldn't make it! Then would have a seriously shortened lifespan, lived till his late teens. I only commented as its a major reason pups get returned to breeders some vet listening to a not yet developed puppy with a stethoscope. specialist scans and grading are the only way and not relevant unless your selecting breeding stock

I know what you mean trouble is vet care is so expensive and once diagnosed correctly or not most insurance won't cover the dog. no wonder they take them back.
