6x47 Swiss Match

Does anybody shoot this calibre in the UK?

If so, are the Ruag cases available?

And what dies would you recommend?

I was going 6-6.5x47, but thought it might be different!

Thanks

Yes - shot it for about six years.

I used genuine Swiss Match brass initially but I would strongly recommend using Lapua 6.5x47 brass - one pass through the full-length Swiss Match body die and you have a Swiss Match case - with small primer pocket. The small primer case takes the pressure so much better and enables far greater m/v.

I got my full length body die from the Huntingtons (Google 'em) and use a Wilson 6BR hand-die to neck-size (mine's a tight neck) and a Wilson 6BR seater.

Personally, I'd go 6-6.5x47 - dies off the shelf, marginally more case capacity, same brass. The neck is still plenty long.

Thanks Guys

The Gun Pimp: When you say the 6-6.5x47 dies are off the shelf, by whom?

I have done a bit of research but still a little confused!

What die would I need to get down to 6mm, and would I then just use a standard 6x47 die set after that like Redding or Forster?

I still shoot a 6x47 Swiss Match and have an ample stock of new RUAG cases to last before the barrel heads South. As Vince described, resizing 6.5x47 Lapua cases to 6x47 Swiss Match is fairly easy.

Walkabout, if you have been offered a used Swiss Match, the dies will probably come with the rifle. If not, they can still be obtained. 6(-6.5)x47 Lapua dies are offered by most of the manufacturers, so if its going to be a new project, I would also recommend the 6-6.5x47 Lapua for ease of supply of reloading gear and components.

Sorry, Forster make a 6-5.5x47 die set and, they don't come much better than Forster. Hannam's stock them. Just run a 6.5x47 Lapua case through the Forster 6-6.5x47 body die - with a bit of sizing wax on it - and you have a 6x47 case!

The Gun Pimp:

I have looked on the Forster Site, and I cannot see the dies?

They have 6x47 (U04180 & BBK2251) but no 6-6.5x47 or is it the 6x47 that I would need?

Forster part no. on box is U00036 Lapua 6x47.
